Welcome Back Letter

Dear West Families,

The 2019-2020 school year is rapidly approaching.  The first day of school is Monday, August 12th.  As we approach a new school year, we look forward to seeing you and your leader(s) back in school.  We would like to provide you with some helpful information as you are sharpening the saw preparing to return to West.

We have a new administrative team at West including Ryan Bruck (Principal), David Cookerly (Assistant Principal), and Mike Nelsen (Dean).  We are busy preparing for your student to be successful this school year.  In an effort to be proactive, we want to invite you to an Administrative Meet and Greet on Monday, July 29th from 5-7 PM.  The West team is looking forward to a year filled with a variety of learning experiences and accomplishments for your students.  We aspire to inspire your children and help them become leaders.

West Elementary continues to be a Leader in Me school. We believe that ALL students can be successful.   We will focus with the end in mind as we set clear goals and expectations for students.  We are asking you to become an integral partner with us as we strive to accomplish our goals.

Open House will be a great time to meet your child’s teacher.  The teachers are excited to meet their students and you can visit with them at our Open House on Thursday, August 8th from 5-7 PM. Volunteer Training- New this year, we will have a volunteer training at 4:00 PM on August 8th in the media center.  If you are interested in being one of our volunteers, please come to the training to learn how you can help our school.

Car Rider Tags will be available during Open House.  It is required that ALL cars must display these tags for afternoon dismissal.  We ask that you place the tag on your rear view mirror to expedite the process.  If you are not available to come in to open house, please come to the office at West on Friday, August 9th to obtain a car rider tag.  We ask that you please be patient with us as we start the new year.  We expect there to be some traffic congestion for the first few days of school with parents bringing their young leaders to school.  It will get better with each passing day.

Arrival Procedures- We will be opening the school for students at 7:00 AM.  The cafeteria will be serving students breakfast starting at 7:00.  Please do not drop off students before 7:00 AM because we will not have proper supervision.  Thank you for all that you do for your student leaders and our school!  I hope you are having a wonderful summer.  We are looking forward to a great year!

With love from your new principal,

Ryan Bruck
